In a 1/6 scale RC military vehicle weighing tens of kilograms, standard hobby-grade filaments fail instantly under dynamic loads. Components like the suspension system must endure constant impact, torque, and weight without bending or cracking.
To solve this, we utilize UltraPA-CF25 – a specialized, high-performance carbon-fiber-reinforced Nylon (Polyamide) – for all critical, high-stress parts.
The Mechanics: Rigidity Under Load
While materials like ABS or ASA offer good impact resistance and could technically handle the mechanical stress without breaking, they possess a lower flexural modulus.
Even standard, unreinforced Nylon (pure Polyamide) is completely unsuitable here; despite its extreme toughness, it is inherently flexible and stretches under sustained loads.
Under the heavy weight of a 1/6 scale model, ABS, ASA, or standard nylon suspension arms would flex and bend sideways, causing the road wheels to lose alignment with each other.
For track setups, this flexing inevitably leads to track throwing and binding.
UltraPA-CF25 contains 25% chopped carbon fiber strands embedded in an advanced Nylon matrix.
This combination alters the mechanical properties completely:
- Extreme Stiffness: The carbon fiber reinforcement increases structural rigidity, ensuring parts do not deform even under maximum suspension compression.
- SLS-Level Performance: When printed with optimized wall thicknesses and correct thermal settings, UltraPA-CF25 parts approach the mechanical strength and interlayer bonding of industrial SLS (Selective Laser Sintering) nylon prints.

Application: Suspension and Drive Components
The primary real-world application of this material in our kits is where mechanical stress is heavily concentrated.
The Sd.Kfz. 251 Track Idler Tensioners: The idler wheel mechanism maintains the tight structural tension of the tracks. The mounting brackets and tensioner arms are printed in UltraPA-CF25 to withstand the constant backward pulling force of the track system without cracking.
The Sd.Kfz. 251 Suspension: The individual suspension swing arms bear the entire weight of the heavy hull while managing the tension of the moving tracks. By manufacturing these swing arms from UltraPA-CF25, we eliminate sag and ensure the suspension geometry remains true during harsh outdoor operations.
The Sd.Kfz. 251 Front Beam Axle: Because the Sd.Kfz. 251 is a half-track, the rigid front beam axle takes the brunt of the impact loads when hitting obstacles. We use UltraPA-CF25 specifically for the beam itself to eliminate any lateral or vertical flexing, ensuring the front wheel alignment and steering geometry remain perfectly true under load.

The Manufacturing Reality
UltraPA-CF25 is an exceptional material, but it comes with steep industrial trade-offs:
- Material Cost: It is one of the most expensive filaments available for FDM machines, significantly increasing production costs.
- Extreme Tool Wear: The chopped carbon fibers act like sandpaper inside the printer.
Running this material accelerates nozzle wear, rapidly widening the nozzle orifice and ruining extrusion accuracy. To maintain our quality standards, toolheads must undergo frequent hardware replacement and calibration.
Quality Without Compromise
We absorb these extra maintenance cycles and material costs because reliability is non-negotiable.
Using standard plastic for load-bearing mechanical linkages is a shortcut we refuse to take.
